Ngl I question myself this evertime and I think the reason why they choose them young is because of the power imbalance or the want to control. Kids are naive and easily get manipulated while most adults or on a legal age knows more and can't easily be controlled. Other comments are bringing up mental illness or disorder, but I honestly struggle to really call it either of those things.
