Im sorry but does anyone ever cringe when they here this said in a story? Like I think its supposed to be cute or romantic or whatever but idk it just rubs me the wrong way but i dont know how to fully explain why so i was wondering if anyone else felt the same and could explain

Stuff like

“I dont like guys/girls, i just like you”

“I like you because you’re you not because you're a guy/girl”

And other corny ass lines fall into this category btw

It feels wrong because they are suggesting that there's something wrong with being gay and if they are saying it to another character, they must be gay. So somehow they are admitting they like this character and saying there's something wrong with them being gay. Similarly, for the other ones, it's basically the person saying that there is somethi...... reply
