Worst comedic trope/cliche?
What is the worst trope/cliche in relation to comedy in media?
I think the worst "joke" a piece of media can do is to have a trope or a cliche in their story, and then call it out as if they in on it, meanwhile nothing is done to really subvert said trope or cliche and it's just there. For hypothetical ex. some guy in the main party ironically points out how they're doing a 'friendship is magic' thing but carries on with plot like normal. Hahahaha now laugh at how unoriginal we are. This shit is why I dropped Murder Drones.
Similar thing with lampshading, like yeah, yeah nonsensical thing is happening get on with it.
A runner up would be gimmicky characters. It's a case-by-case basis, but most of the times whenever there's a gimmick character their act will get old real fast. To the point where they're not even characters anymore, it's all on their stupid gimmick.
meta-awareness in a straightforward sense. i love random fourth-wall breaks or sudden bouts of consciousness but when it's just too much sometimes it's just too much. like what op said about lampshading, too. like by a certain point it's just distracting to the audience's immersion.
