Actually I’m asking this question before googling it to know what ppl think.
So I’m black and I know I have to wear sunscreen because skin cancer. However I wanna know: Does skin cancer affect people with lighter skin tones more?
Lemme explain: I was born in Africa and where I’m from not that many people get skin cancer (we die from other types of cancer or by ignoring diabetes and drinking too much)
So basically is melanin and extra protector even if at the end everybody can get skin cancer
weirdest place to ask...but, one google search is all it took but Yes, melanin protects the skin from UV. Lesser melanin = lesser protection. But, please keep wearing sunscreen and try to avoid direct sun exposure around 10 am - 5 pm, especially now that the sun seems pricklier than before. 1 reply
