Apparently it's the idea of being loved unconditionally far beyond and that's why possessive lovers is quite popular between consumers and media. Most times I like it, but if it gets to a point where the love interest is violent or tippy-toeing around yandere themes then it's a complete turn off for me- but it is a troupe I do tend to have a guilty......   reply

The idea of being unconditionally loved, wanted despite everything, the willingness to be waited for and the feeling of being desired. A lot of people like the fantasy of it and the romanticised result is the possessive lover troupe. The lovers wanting them, being concerned and protective, being clingy and jealous no matter what making their desire......   3 reply

A point I hear a lot is that a lot of people like possessive characters because they want to feel loved to an extreme degree. Like they feel like they don't get a lot of love IRL so they gravitate towards possessive lovesick characters to feel loved and wanted. It could also be for fun.   reply

I think its because they want to feel special and superior. Like this attractive species is so scary and will kill and reject everyone except me because above everyone else I'm the only one he love kinda stuff. At least that is what I think. The same energy as "LOOK AT ME LUKE, THIS IS NOT YOU" and only your hug can calm the anger within kinda type......   reply

what yall like is not even possesive, ppl love to say "possesive people is so attractive" but when someone IS possesive, yall hate ts, you cannot handle someone who would want your attention 24/7, breakdown when you smile at someone else, wanting you to depend on them all the time   3 reply

Possessive lovers? I assume it's because there's an urge to feel wanted and to be acknowledged that they are someone's and feel protected, high attention span, knowing the fact that they cherish their partner so much that they'll do anything to keep them without hurting them physically or emotionally i guess if you're going for a aggressive psycho ......   reply

I think everyone wants to be loved unconditionally. And seeing people be jealous over you, when not taken to extreme levels, can be cute and endearing and an indication of them caring about you. In fiction, things are just naturally amped up to its most dramatic conclusion which is how we get yanderes IMO.   reply

1. Because it’s fictional, people can indulge themselves in what is “taboo” without harming themselves or others. 2. The gap moe of “big tough guy who hates everyone but shows only you an affectionate/possessive side and desires you” fulfills something for some people   1 reply

Basically it’s the concept of true love, everybody wants someone who will truly love them, protect them, provide for them, support them. In reality possessive guys are mostly those who are insecure, lack in some or many areas and want to control their SO, but in fiction possessive guys are hot, charismatic, rich and perfect   1 reply
