I have always respected characters that live just for smoke, and so I have to say Esdeath from Arame ga Kill. She wasn't about to fall for the friendship no jutsu that Tatsumi was trying to instill in her and I found it extremely realistic, not all villains can be restored and I love that that time it was a woman
