try in medias res! this is a technique with which you begin from the middle of the story or a(n) (in)singnificant event within it. one with suspense, or one with emotional value, etc.
the story unravels, reveals itself gradually from there, either with references to the past or presenting this 'in medias res' scene as a dream, or a joke/story sb made up, e.g. 'secluded in a cubical room, they are made to solve complex riddles within a certain time limit to maintain their sanity, to survive. clouded by a constant state of rage ruby was allowing shiva no opportunity to rest her nerves. *announcement: your remaining time's below 3 minutes* shiva was suffocating, the surrounding light was growing dim, the difficulty was rising.. silly ruby.. she'd already given into her primal instincts, morphed into.. it began approaching, not ruby, but a now insidious figure.. crawling.. picking up on its speed and..

otherwise you can also start by a phrase and build upon it, e.g. ',,they told me magic doesn't existʼʼ belief is a fragile thing. i awoke from another restless slumber with an indiscernible feeling'. or maybe try it in 3rd pov so it doesn't sound as cringe as that.. in a similar manner you can reference the protagonist's feelings or portray their surroundings.. doesn't have to be the mc, i'd personally like a story introduced with (or by) a side character, a total stranger.

I recommend writing what you want to write and then going back to the beginning. Don't worry about how it starts. Do a little research and look at similar stories and see how they start. I'm not saying plagiarize but to get ideas on how to start/continue.
