Opinions on true crime???

Just saw this video on TikTok of this girl trying to act edgy about how true crime didn't affect her and this really got me thinking how much the genres dehumanizes the victims and glamorize the killers...i mean just a year ago the Jeffrey Dahmer show came out and people made fucking edits of it and turned it into a meme ☹ the families of the victims are still alive and talked about how the show reopened old wounds ┗( T﹏T )┛

i think it's weird to talk about true crime as something you are unaffected about- people who brag about it are weird asf and i avoid any shows done by netflix or hulu because they often exploit the victim and change the narrative. i usually listen to podcasts about scams and rotten mango (not the mukbang) where they usually work with victims or ad...... reply

True Crime itself is not the issue but the people who present it. True crime exists to inform people about what happened and how it can be prevented/for you to recognize such situations. It is there to spread awareness for cold cases or even active cases that have the chance of being solved. One of the only True Crime Youtubers I follow is Kendal...... reply
