Opinions on religion
I have a very Christian family and mom but I am an atheist. My mom forces me to go to church services and even read parts of the Bible over and over again until I can act like I’m not repulsed. I try to be as respectful to religion but the way my mom acts makes me resent it. Not only that, but religion is also so heavily linked to hatred for the queer community.
I’m trying to understand other viewpoints and not sound rude. I would like to ask a few questions.
1. Are you religious, do you believe in god(s) or some sort of higher power? - If you are an atheist, do you still have some sort of “spiritual” belief?
2. If you are religious, how do you feel about atheists, do you resent them, wish to convert them, or have no issues whatsoever?
3. If you had a child and they happened to have different opinions how would you treat them? If they showed signs of depression related to you forcing your beliefs on them would you still do so, yell at them, even?
4. (This is mildly unrelated but I’m cutie curious) I heard some people, though reading Bl and/or Gl, have issues with queer people in real life. Is this true, and if you feel that way, why?
Pardon if my grammar is bad, I am not quite good at it.
This might not be the best place to discuss this - it is an open forum! But you may find some better answers through some online searching.
However - in my experience:
Religious conservatism is really hard to deal with because it's very rigid and set in its ways and it's not open to change.
I left my former religion a while back because they were......

My religion has multiple branches, and I was raised in the most... ah, I don't know what to call it. Loose version, I suppose? My branch adheres the least strictly to traditional laws of our sacred text, open to more interpretations, and tend to be much more assimilated with society at large. I have always viewed it as the most logical option - I g......

1) I'm religious but people tend to not think my religon is 'real' because it really isn't that mainstream compared to christianity^^;
2) Athiests are cool in my book! You should be allowed to do whatever you want as long as you're not hurting anyone. Honestly, people shouldn't put their
beliefs above other people. That's just wrong. The reason wh......

I am in the same predicament. My parents and sibling are Christian, but I've been an atheist for two years. They still encourage me to go to church with them sometimes. I don't want to tell them that I don't believe in their God, because it will ruin our relationship for sure.
1. No. And no.
2. -
3. I will not force my religious belief on anyone......

One of the main issues I have personally with religions is it can cause humans to do horrendous things for their gods and this can cause people with bad intentions to take advantage of others. If the spokesperson for a god tells it's followers to steal from shops and to bring the items to the church or they will be sent to the bad version of afterl......

I am not religous, but not an atheist either. I think god exists but, god isn't like any other religion writes about it. Only my mom and grandma is super religous, and don't care about my feelings of going to church. I really don't like going there because the people there are really hypocrites. Of course, i don't think all religous people are like......

1. I'm a christian, and yes i do believe in God.
2. I used to be agnostic bcs i always thought that atheists were too sensitive when it was about their beliefs, I thought God did exist but i wasn't too sure about it. Nowadays i still think that atheists can be sensitive about religion, i still talk to them if the topic comes, but i don't try to co......

Well, my grandfather was a devoted Christian too, he always forced me to go to church and made me feel guilty whenever I skipped. My mom is also pretty religious and while growing up she used to nag me for not being like her.
Personally, I consider myself an agnostic. I do believe something "supernatural" exists, but I don't believe in any determin......

Well, I dunno about anyone else, but here's my take on it...
1. I wouldn't call myself "religious," but as awesome as the universe is, I wonder why it exists. I also wonder why humans are so intelligent, above all other species. That's why I believe in a higher power. I don't think there is a "right" religion, though. I'm being raised as a Christi......
