what makes good people good and bad people bad
come think thoughts with me, i can assure you it is a better way to drown ur sorrows than reading poorly written smut ლ(´ڡ`ლ)
JUDGING PEOPLE ONLINE
i’ve been thinking about how subjective everything is,
beauty: some adore white or dark skinned people, others prefer skinny or curvy people
intellect: some people say it’s ur grades that determine ur smarts, while others would say it’s ur life experience or how you handle things
morality: someone who donates to charity can be seen as a good person, but what if they have a rotten personality? another person could be the most lovely individual ever, but they drink and drive
consider how both sides will think they are the ones right and the other is wrong. (minus the lovely souls who understand what an opinion is)(rare in the internet tbh)
are things so black and white that we have to put them in this binary? no, right?
so why does social media do it all the time
someone will make one mistake and the internet will write them off forever
let’s take mr beast for example,
he does very kind and generous things with his money, but viewers hate on him for posting it online because he’s just “doing it for clout” or “taking advantage of those in need”
let’s assume, for the sake of this conversation, that he has those intentions
so is he good or bad? i find it difficult to put people in the in between, but it feels nice to put a label on everything. doesn’t it? it makes things simpler and easier to understand. and if EVERYONE else is saying something, people don’t feel the need to look deeper or think for themselves
is our ‘goodness’ determined by what we say or what we do? both? but what if my words contradict my actions? how do u know what i truly think? are my thoughts what determine how i am? does any of this matter?
can you really judge someone for something they did or said years ago? people can change constantly
can you judge a relationship by a 10 second video? no, and it sounds stupid when you think about it for more than a second.
does the shallow minded thinking of commenters online make them bad people? or are they just a victim to following what everyone else is saying? like how when comments are disabled on a video, everyone scrambles to put together their opinion. they may find it difficult when they can’t see what the rest of the sheep are thinking
my point is: just stop.
all this negativity is not good for you
mind ur own business or do your research. either way, whatever that influencer is doing doesn’t really effect you (depends, but you get my point)
you don’t know how a person really is, you don’t know if the character they present themselves as online is really even them (does that make it okay for u to judge them? who knows! why does it matter anyway)
no, that seconds long video or 2 sentence post doesn’t mean anything, we don’t know ANYTHING about ANYONE online. being a hater isn’t funny, it’s not cute, and it most certainly doesn’t do any good than breed more hate (people get death threats for posting cringey videos, CMON NOW. that’s absolutely horrible and unacceptable)
anyway what do u guys think?
sincerely, shart ε=ε=(ノ≧∇≦)ノ
