Mangago had been feeling weird the past few days. There was something wrong with them. Mangadex had been their sworn rival for a long time now, and Mangago had hated their presence as well, so what was this tingly feeling they got toward Mangadex now.
It won't help to sit and brood over this. Mangago needed to talk this out with their friends. Maybe that will help them obtain further insight into this unknown emotion they were feeling.
Mangahere: You hadn't contacted us for so long that I almost thought that we thought you'd practically forgotten about us?!
Mangafox: Same here man. We're your friends aren't we? You should talk to us when you feel down!
Mangago: Actually that's what I wanted to talk about...
Mangahere: What happened? Everything alright?
Mangago: No it's not. Lately I've been feeling a certain way towards Mangadex. Earlier their presence used to irritate me, but now... Not so much.
Mangafox: Maybe you're getting over your competitiveness??
Mangago: Could be that? But then why do I keep craving their company more? Everytime they're near me I feel this odd burning sensation inside me, and when they touch me, the area feels so.... so precious...
Mangafox: Dude, you didn't call here to tell us you have a crush on Mangadex right??
Mangago: .........
Mangafox: Oh god- You're genuinely in love with them??! You're turning into a maiden in love!!
Mangahere: Finally you're moving on from Mangaowl!! I was so worried that you wouldn't ever find someone else and that you'd spend the entirety of your life lamenting about them!!
Mangago: But should I even be allowed to?? I'm not worthy of receiving love, and that too when I lost Mangaowl so recently......
Mangafox: It's been a year Mangago!! An entire year! You deserve to move on. And I'm sure Mangaowl would've wanted the same...
Mangago had a bit more clarity in his feelings now, but this clarity was proving to be detrimental. How could Mangago move on from Mangaowl, and that too for someone like Mangadex?
Dark thoughts were clouding and looming over Mangago's head when they met Mangadex.
Mangadex: Hey there! What a surprise to meet you here! What's wrong? You look a bit down??
Mangago: It's nothing....
Mangadex: It's not nothing. Tell me what's wrong? I don't hate you that badly that I'll ridicule you...
Mangago: Well it's just that my friends told me that I may be in love with you.... I don't know though?!
Mangadex remains silent for a while then replies
Mangadex: I- Are you sure it's me you love? It's just that this is so random-
The indecisiveness of Mangadex accompanied by Mangago's own insecurities and confusion, struck a nerve in Mangago. Whatever emotions they'd buried in themselves, in hope that those will never see the light of day, erupted and gushed like water from a geyser.
Mangago: I KNOW!! YOU DON'T NEED TO RUB SALT IN THE WOUND. ALSO WHAT DO YOU EVEN KNOW??! I'M NOT SURE THAT I LOVE YOU EITHER!! THERE'S PROBABLY 100'S OUT THERE WHO COULD REPLACE YOU, BUT I'M NOT READY. I CAN'T REPLACE MANGAOWL WITH YOU!!! NOT YOU!!
Mangago immediately realised the consequences of what they'd said. It was hurtful to say the least, and Mangago wasn't confident enough to look up at Mangadex. However Mangadex's silence forced Mangago to.
Mangadex's face had lost all traces of their previous cheerfulness and was now replaced by a sombre look.
Mangadex: I have no clue who Mangaowl is- or was, and I have no intention of replacing them. So do whatever you want, but please don't involve me in your affairs, for I have done nothing to deserve such insults...
Mangadex started to walk away. Earlier it wouldn't have been a big deal but somehow their leave this time seemed like a foreboding of sorts. It felt as if they won't ever come back, if they left now.
Mangago: Stop- please! I didn't mean what-
Mangago's voice faded into the distance as Mangadex left them behind. The setting sun in front of Mangadex on the empty city roads seemed to contrast the magnanimity of the situation that just took place.
Mangago tried calling out a few more times, but it all seemed meaningless. It was like trying to catch a shooting star. Mangadex's entry into their life was just as brilliant, as their leave was today. Only now did Mangago realise that Mangadex wouldn't replace Mangaowl, that's for sure. However there was indeed no replacement for Mangadex. No one in this world could ever make Mangago feel the same passion as Mangadex did.
But it was too late wasn't it?.... All Mangago could do now was hope, hope that Mangadex returned and that they could properly convey their love to Mangadex.
