i just think it’s funny how manwhas are more popular than mangas on this site. i remember when it used to be the opposite. especially with the romance genre, mangas like black bird, kami sama kiss, love so life, were always the ones on the front page even a couple of years ago. now it’s all isekai manwhas with the same plot devices. bl is super popular w women now and most of it is korean manwhas, i literally remember when “fujoshis” used to obsess over japanese mangas only. like pple made fun of korean webtoons/ manwha style as a cheap imitation of the japanese anime style of drawing.

this is just an observation, i read both styles and honestly just find it funny how things flipped.

Tbh it’s because manga isn’t keeping up. Nowadays a small amount of Japanese mangas and novels have good plot, good art or both. While a lot of manhwas have gorgeous art with good plot. Manhuas will catch up soon too, chinese BL novels are really the top of the top in the genre and more are getting adaptations recently. If someone wants sauce ...... 5 reply

Honestly BL manhwas started sooo good. With unique stories and unique character dynamics. Like Bj Alex or The Good Teacher, but now the same authors draw Jinx and Limited Run... Everything turned back to abusive Big Seme poor Uke shit like Japanese yaois from 90-00. I think people still prefer them over mangas because they are full color and mobile...... 4 reply

I think trends do come and go But I do see Chinese media not just danmei novels and donghua but even C-dramas are overlooked, I wish xenophobia didn't exist. I was actually thinking about this lmao. When I started reading mangas online I was so anti manhwa and so was everyone (now that I think about it I don’t even know why lol). And now I mostly read manhwas and some manhuas. As everyone already said manhwas are easier to read and you have a new chapter every 7-10days. I also think character drawin...... reply
