They totally deserved the backlash—the chapter was straight-up racist. It wasn’t about stopping any kind of hate; it just exposed how they really feel about Americans and Black people. And honestly, this is a bigger problem in a lot of manhwas, popular or not. I’ve seen way too many that mock Americans and other races, and it’s actually so sad. A lot of manhwas, even if they don’t intend to be outright racist, tend to have an "us vs. them" mindset where Koreans are always portrayed as superior or morally better than foreign characters. And sometimes, the way non-Korean characters are drawn (especially Black characters) falls into some really outdated and offensive tropes.
It’s definitely a discussion that needs to be had, because while some manhwas are getting better with representation, others are still stuck pushing harmful stereotypes. :(
I'm thinking they deserve what's happening—the backlash and the manhwa getting removed from Webtoon. As an Asian, I can say that most of us are really ignorant with issues like this. I never even knew 'racism' existed, and making fun of other people's colors is a bad thing. Not until I turned 15 and was exposed to different kinds of people on social media. Things like n-word and such, I saw lots of times but only knew its meaning after I downloaded TikTok. But I don't think it should be used as an excuse at all. They are authors, and they should be held responsible for what they do and say. And they're adults too. I don't think they're that ignorant and dumb enough not to know how sensitive things like this are. They could have done research beforehand. Just how hard is it... It's a lesson learned for them and for other creators.
deadass saw some people defending it by saying "koreans dont know how black people look like" BS!! they say that but cant explain why koreans the so called people that dont know how black people look like love appropriating our culture every time.. like we see them durags yall love wearing also how in the world is that chapter aiming to stop hatred?...cuz huhh?
All I can say is that they don't care that much,it needed to be removed but they just put it on a hitaus. They are gonna continue it like nothing happened after the hitaus

Bro said "I am against violence" yet he used violence
Literally
dont care, u cant redeem a racist......I was born in a homogenenous society and yet I've never been racist or made racist remarks myself........
no fr they keep they're ignorant but make no plans to educate themselves on such topics
Same like I see people make racist jokes Idc if they are close or distant to me, I point it out that what you said/did was not okay
what are your thoughts?
