Aren't you sad you didn't become a doctor?

It's been 2 years since I failed to get into medicine and ever since, this is the question I get from my mother "aren't you sad you didn't become a doctor, aren't you?" She is and its fucking me over. I feel like a disappointment and whenever she asks me that, I just walk away and use this site like its some drug to not feel frustrated and just...sad. just venting

Just yesterday, I told my mom that if were to hypothetically succeed in any other course that doesn't revolve around hospital or public health in general, how would she feel? She said it would be great if I had the money but at the end of the day, my ”DESTINY” is to be a nurse, and that I would fail in any other path. Hence, my fear of failure . Aren't parents amazing?

Does she want you to cry every day or something? Parents and their medicine, law, and engineer obsession need to fucking stop. If you're sad for failing to get into medicine because YOU wanted to do it you're allowed to feel disappointed, but life goes on. If it makes you feel better and puts your mind at ease just for a little there is this saying 'all roads lead to Rome'. Also maybe sit your mom down and tell her how bothered you are when she does that (if you haven't done so already ofc). She needs to understand that she makes you feel like shit when she says that.

Haha saw this comment wayy late.
I'm sure she already knows I feel like shit, but she feels a lot of grief too. She used to cry sometimes on how I wasn't able to get into medicine even tho I have the 'brains' for it and I shattered all her dreams and wishes she had for me ever since I was a child.
