For me I have a bad habit of self inserting in stories where the FMC is bland/has no personality which leads me to not enjoy the story. I cant self insert in yaoi cus im not a guy, so I can read the series at face value even if both MCs are trash/poorly written.
I have a hard time getting into new genres and what I read are mostly stuff im used to so ig ill keep reading BL even if I can't find any good ones anymore
