Fujoshis
its odd when (non-japanese) people who call themselves fujoshi LMFAO. its not problem but its cringe. its like calling yourself an otaku bc you like anime. i also hate people who dehumanize / demonize fujoshis. this is towards all the chronically online tiktok people who think fujoshi means a girl who fetishizes bl. which i can explain WHY thats misogynistic and HOMOPHOBIC. and im not throwing words around.
the term fujoshis was made up BY homophobic men who thought women were rotten and not suited for marriage all bc they support gay people / consume gay media. hence the direct translation of the term (rotten girl). japanese women reclaimed the term and made “fujoshi” a neutral term instead of being derogatory. i hate people who use that direct translation to support their argument that fujoshis are horrible or fetishize gay people. they are quite actively supporting the homophobic roots. fun fact, fujoshis have done more for the gay community than the people who demonize fujoshis. why? they quite literally protested for gay rights in japan and normalize gay media. its funny to see how worked up people get by knowing fujoshis exist. why is fujoshis an issue but not fudanshis? what about women makes them so angry? like more than half of the gay stories they enjoy are made by women. just stop consuming bl in general since all of your faves are MADE by fujoshis.
so no. fujoshi doesnt mean women who has a fetish for gay people. it means japanese women who consume bl content. if people are still saying women can’t read bl. then imagine this, a women avoiding romance stories bc it involves gay people. that awfully sounds like… homophobia. thank you for my ted talk.
