I don't feel like it's adding that much to the plot and it's just distasteful in general. Though it does show how much of a jerk the person who put the drug in is. I'm fine with that person being a villain, but a loved one ? Yuck. Dump their stupid ass rn.
Can be nice if both people give their consent, but that's not what you were asking.
