Um yaoi doesn't change views on anything since it's catered to girls for more perverse reasons AND it's strives off the rape trope lmao it's not really something to think deeply about. It doesn't really have anything to do with that real life stuff, kinda of like how yuri is most boys fantasies, then there's shota, futanari, loli, traps, ahegao, etc. There's no real deep meaning behind it, just gives us all something to fantasize about and pretty characters to drool over. it's just another genre of the many perverse genres out there. I do agree with you for the most point, but I would say that it also depends on which yaoi you're reading. There are some (very few though, unfortunately) that are actually respectful and even show the actual struggles of being gay. I feel like people reading those could become more sympathetic towards LGBT+ people. The same goes for yuri. But then again, it really depends on the way a person is seeing things already.
