Anyone else's parents do this?

My mom washes cherries and strawberries in flour and salt water. My brother said it was unnecessary and they only need to be washed with water. Does anyone else do this? I searched it up and it did say it was a method for washing fruit and getting rid of contamination and stuff but..

Never heard or seen someone doing it. Under normal circumstances it should be unnecessary. Dirt should be washed away by normal water. Germs will die because of your stomach acid (it has a ph of 1). But don't drink too much water at the same time. reply

Yes my mom does that sometimes, she washes them in salt and water just that, so if there is shit on it, it goes away BOOM reply

No but my mom spray the strawberries with hand sanitizer and leave them for 5 or 10 minutes wash them with water and eat them reply
