Why do we tolerate serial killers but not rapist (Character)

So I read this manga and there is a part where the best friend tried to rape or force himself to the seme but luckily he failed and the story continues. For me as a character in a story he isn't that bad aside from his attempted rape. Then I saw the comments telling people how could they support the best friend and his actions. Which I'll agree is weird and kinda fucked up but then again its fiction. People literally simp Killer characters and commenting about how they want the killer to do this and that to them.


So yeah why do we (cause im also part of the ppl who cant tolerate rapist character) tolerate Killers more than rapist
