When did yall first discovered yaoi/BL?

The first time I watched yaoi was when I was 9. The one I watched was 'Hitorijime My Hero'. I rewatched that at least 3 times a day, every day, for like, the next month. I think it was when I was 17 and I watched banana fish not knowing what it was about. Ash and Eiji's relationship was so pure and adorable and I ended up loving the anime.
