maybe start with simple and small phrases everyday until you memorize it correctly then jump to more complex sentences? I suggest going to YouTube for short vids like those since I learned a bit of ASL from them   reply

sounds weird but a mix of beginners books, children's books/shows, and just shows in that language. a good beginners book will show you fundamentals but children's shows & books help learn easy conversation. also just immersing yourself in the language helps... this is how my sister learned Arabic lol she would watch Sesame street and do kids activ......   reply

You have some dedication damn, that shit is one of the hardest languages I know. I quit, but still learn it at school, and the way I still keep up with it is that I have online friends from Montreal and Quebec. As I learned Persian while learning English growing up, I remember learning Persian similarly to English. I learned the alphabet and started learning the small words/phrases and how to read and write them along with the words that I would pick up from my parents conversations. Don't learn too many formal phrases in French, keep it casual. Back when I was learning French, my teacher who used to live in France told me that they hardly used formal and usually kept it casual. She used to teach me slang, curse words, informal sentences, etc. Don't worry too much and enjoy your self-study.   reply

I'm learning japanese by watching anime, reading manga in japanese sometime, play visual novel game, watching japanese youtube channel, listening to japanese music, following japanese people in twitter, well in conclusion I only do what I enjoy to do lol   reply
