i don't know what to feel

So i have a guy best friend we were friends for atleast 4 years? during our friendship i was constantly being joked that 'he likes me' (but it's actually that truth) but i always told him that i don't like him and don't want to ruin our friendship, during those 4 years he would have relationship with other girls and same with mine. But during this pandemic we went silent with each other, and that's when i learned he has a new girl that he didn't introduce to us (me and the rest of the friend group) which is okay with me since it's his choice, then i quickly chatted him saying that the girl looks so good and they will hit it off good that's when i noticed him being cold and aloof, not only to me but to other friends of ours.

then when my birthday came he greeted me and i said my thanks, days later he suddenly chatted me saying he didn't want to continue the friendship we have and stuffs like that because of his girl. I agreed but then i realized he was the one said 'he likes me' but now breaking off the friendship we have because the gf of his might feel jealous? I didn't know how to feel for weeks. (for the gf she wasn't at fault and i backed off silently because i didn't want her to feel bad or jealous) i was just confused at what my (ex bestfriend) did to our 4 year friendship..
