My worst fear as a writer described in a question. Cause like you have to know how to balance the main plot and the sub plot correctly, and by god most authors fail horribly at that. And I end up asking myself if they're just all bad or if I'm way too confident in my abilities.   3 reply

Mm because yes. I feel like a lot of authors make pieces specifically about homophobia to turn it I to tragedy, not even caring to explain in depth WHY its sad. to add on to this, I feel like a lot of these authors use these social issues almost like accessories to the story for realism and not out of interest. someone seriously needs to tell these people that taking on these serious themes that impact a lot of people in society is a responsibility and can be harmful if done badly or too superficially. It depends on the story and if I'm knowledgeable about the social issue myself. Honestly, I'm more likely to get mad if they misrepresent something I am educated about. However, it might be hypocritical, but if I don't know much about something I'll likely ignore it. Additionally, if it's something I'm actually interested in reading and I'm taking ......   reply
