Does anyone feel like Yuki overshadows Uenomiya?
I know this might garner a negative reaction from the fandom or the Yuki stans, but I feel like this needs to be talked about. This isn't about Mafuyu, but who the author really pushes in the story. I sometimes feel like Uenomiya is a side character and Yuki is the main character.
Given is supposed to be a story about acceptance and moving on, but us as audience are always seeing Yuki being more present in the story either from Mafuyu's perspective (which is necessary, I admit) or the other characters' perspective or he just appears randomly. I feel like there is too little emphasis on the relationship and acceptance part but more on the past and how all the characters' lives revolved around Yuki. Mafuyu is still mourning, it's been just one year. It's completely valid for him to be still hurt from the loss, but I feel like the other characters' deliberately keep on bringing Yuki to the conversation whenever Uenomiya is present to maybe compare him to Yuki or to hurt him. I suppose the immaturity of all the other characters' bother me the most.
I am open to all discussions. I have just been wanting to discuss this in particular as it has been bothering me for quite a while.
but fr, I don't feel that connection between Mafuyu and Uenoyama. I still feel like Mafuyu is stuck with his love for Yuki and can we blame him? they have known each other since forever and on top of that, they loved each other so much so losing Yuki made a huge impact on him and ofc he can't let go of those memories that easily. I hurt for Uenoyam......
