Assuming this question is in regard to the LGBTQ+ community, in my experience this is just a self-righteous and implicit way of saying: "I hate who you are and what you do, but I want to be nice so if you call me out on it, *you're* the douchebag here." my opinion abt it most of the time is negative. i feel rlly uncomfortable bc on multiple accounts that these words were directed to me, its always a jab to my sexuality and to lgbtq+ community ive heard it a lot from christians and religious ppl including my own friends and relatives. theyre saying that they respect us but wont support us, obv tha......   reply

I assume you are talking about people saying this when it comes to the LGBTQ+ community, right? I honestly don't think it's a negative thing like as long as they respect you then you don't necessarily NEED support right? It's just that they have different beliefs, if you were to disregard their beliefs or reasons then that would be disrespectful and hypocritical   reply
