Maybe because it's... different? I like unique things I guess so I think yaoi is different because it shows how not only straight couples can find love, gays can too. Plus, I think society shuns gays more than lesbians bc everyone loves lesbos and titties and dat ass (including me lol) but I think people don't like the gays because "they're guys", ......
