Resident evil village
Ok so I kinda wanna play resident evil village but I know absolutely nothing about it and have never played any of the games so I’m gonna ask some questions:
When I looked it up it says that it’s a (direct, I’m assuming) sequel to resident evil biohazard, do I have to play 7 to understand and enjoy 8? Or is it easy enough to understand by context clues and ect to play by itself?
Is it story driven to the point where I won’t enjoy the game if I watch play throughs of it?
And is it a genuinely good game (atmosphere, gameplay, controls, ect.)?
I’d prefer if answers were purely unbiased cause biases usually paint things either better or worse than it is. Thank you <3
No, you don’t have to. In the game there’s a short little video that’ll fill you up on what happened in the previous one, and you can just google a short plot synopsis of the previous game to fill yourself in. While I can’t answer your second question, I do think that Village is a genuinely good horror game. The atmosphere is quite amazing ......

It's not necessary to play re 7 to enjoy re 8. Since re 8 does have it's own lore and story and is more or less connected to re 7 but it isn't a huge lore revelation per se (but to the mc, yes it's kinda huge oof). An enjoyable game definitely. I think even a new player who has no knowledge of the lore would still enjoy it but would leave them conf......
