Okay first off, anyone who claims to be Christian (any religion really) and then judges people who are lgbt+ are terrible. Like the scripture literally says love your neighbor, etc, and that God will forgive all sins?? I'm a lesbian and I've grown up in a really strict Christian place, too. Luckily, things have started to change more around here, but there are still families who kick their kids out and who tell them they're going to hell. I've never been able to think of it as a sin cause when I was in kindergarten, a gay man came to our class and gave us a talk on how he was in love with a man and had a family. I live in california currently, for a long time, but before when I was a student I was lived in japan. In japan, it was like an unspoken subject, at least around the people I hung out around, so I would not really know. I would assume many religious people especially those who are believers in Jesus Christ and the whole Christian shibang shibang think that LGBTQ + is bad bc there is a passage in the Bible that says a man cannot lay down with a boy, so I would guess that they take it as oh gay relationships are bad. For anyone who lives in an environment where people are anti-gay for religious purposes, you should ask them if they're okay with divorce. This won't work if you live somewhere where no one is allowed to get divorced, but most Christians are fine with people getting remarried. This is probably a topic where the pubic opinion is shaped by society. I personally am a uni student in Germany, where almost everyone is an atheist and pretty open-minded. I have very religious Christian parents, but they're very accepting. They used to have a slightly broken image of people who like the same gender, mostly because they thought it's all just about lust and sleeping around (which, let's be real, is true for some people). But I've shown them same-sex couples who were in love with each other for decades......   reply
