Dropping BL
A title you think you wouldn't see here on Mangago. But I'm thinking of seriously doing it. I mean if you check out my account you know that I read a shit ton of it. And it's been about a year or two since I dropped the fujo title cause.... cringe, we dont talk about it.
But I've been listening to a lot of mlm, and their personal feelings on it. And it really does get me feeling guilty, cuz they have some really good fucking points. And if anyone has a say on it, I think it's them. Because even though I'm an asexual panromantic, I'm not a man, I don't know what it feels like, and I don't personally go into gl because of the same complaints they have.
Which doesn't mean there aren't good ones out there, just means that... I'm starting to get some real guilt from it. And I think I'm going to drop it. I'll keep what's already read in my read list. And I'll finish all the stories that are in my reading. But after I finish this last list. I don't think I'm going to be reading anymore.
Anywho I guess this would be a good chance on asking what y'all feel about it? Do you guys like BL? Or yall dont support? And what about GL?
No group is a monolith, so I can only speak from people I’ve talked to, but in my experience it becomes problematic when it leads to people fetishizing or judging real people by BL tropes. Ill honestly read anything but bl is the main thing, I don’t fetishize it tho I could honestly care less about the sex but the romance is good in some of them. I think anyone can read whatever they want to read. As long as you keep in mind that being respectful of any relationship is important too. A genre is just a genre so I think it’s crazy that one is hated on because it sexualizes and badly romanticizes things. I think we forget that the other romance genres do the same thing in one form or another......

I agree with “in your fridge”, you can enjoy BL’s and GL’s so long as you don’t fetishize it and make actual queer people uncomfortable by sexualize for them irl. Though tbh, the comics themselves are pretty fetishy themselves so it’s hard to escape the fetishization, and there’s generally a pretty toxic and misogynistic community beh......

Okay, since you all seem to be very consistent when it comes to your thoughts on it. I think I'm going to hold off on my decision. And I think I'm going to explain a little more on what's making me feel guilty.
