I think u should be staright with him n tell him his negative way of thinking is the reason ppl r leaving him , yes, he is struggling, but so r u, just as u feel guilty for leaving him alone when he is struggling, u should feel guilty for making urself go thru shit too, ik I may sound harsh , but u r ur first priority. i think you should focus on your mental health atm. tell him this, that you need time for yourself. hopefully he will not be one of the people that call you selfish because you're pitting your health first. i don't really know how to solve the issue with your friend but help yourself first because you won't be able to help him well if you don't fee......   reply

Babes this is by no means selfish of you! The fact that you even tried to help goes to show that. But don't help someone at the cost of your own mental wellbeing. Even if you told him before you would listen and try to help it is more than ok to tell them that "I can't do this anymore it's starting to now effect me."
