School sucks the life and interests out of everyone.
For example, school has destroyed the bookroom side of me. I used to love reading books and even looked through my brother's books/textbooks. I didn't always understand what was going on, but it was fun. I used to check out books from the school and public libraries very often, and I often had a thing for mystery genre books. I used to study part of my dictionaries and thesauruses because I wanted to learn new words. School has only mostly destroyed my love for reading. Most of the books and poems I read are for school, and I rarely read new books or reread old ones because I'm not interested. Some of the books from school are interesting, but the questions and tests ruin the fun. The standardized tests' reading sections are so annoying and boring to read.
School has also ruined my interest in history. I used to read books about former presidents and fun facts about them. I was even interested in facts about my country's history(until school started making me study them) and world history as well as history of ancient people. I used to look through my brother's study books for standardized exams like the AP, to learn more about history. But studying for school and the tests have made me somewhat dislike history.
I sometimes wonder if all my studying and hard work are worth it. Why must I learn and study for 10+ years and even more, if I go to college? Why am I learning about rules about geometry and useless facts that will not be rehearsed into my long-term memory? I do like learning but not when I'm forced to learn it.
What interests and parts of your life have school ruined?
Remote learning specifically has been the worst...made everything I was struggling with (academically and beyond) so much worse. Even though i'm almost at the finish line, i've been holding on by a thread for the past two years and have half-given up. I'm just anxious and tired al the time. I even stopped talking to my friends altogether for a mont......
