How did Yaoi affect your perspective about relationships in general?

I agree with the idea of getting a feeling of "pure love" from reading yaoi and BL. I think that it shows how someone can truly and completely love someone else. Sometimes I think it shows how two people feel about each other means they can overcome some difficult challenges in life to be together, which is kind of inspiring for real life relation......   reply

2 years ago I got into anime/manga and general. So, I had this one friend and she watched "Yaoi" and of course the newbie that I was didn't know what it was. She told me it was boyxboy relationship, I really didn't care for it and I just decided to do some research and found "Junjou Romantica" and "Sekai Ichi Hatsukoi" and I absolutely fell in love......   reply

I suppose yaoi kind of broadened my view of relationships in a way. Kind of made me want to support those who felt different because they like others of the same gender etc. It's hard to explain but before I started reading/watching it, same sex relationships weren't something I would give a second thought and now they are something I wish to suppo......   reply

I really understood that if you love someone gender doesn't matter at all... Before i read yaoi i didn't even think about same sex relationships.. but after i read i thought that there's nothing wrong in those kind of relationships as long as we love our partner with our whole heart..   reply

It made me feel like an ideal world where each partner was equal in a relationship was possible, and also not possible. (possible because the idea exists. Well made me think that relationships are really hard to maintain and sometimes you will find in the most unexpected places the affection that you were putting in the hand of the wrong person ... strange as this affection is (in the case of yaoi more "strong") But that's what makes me like them, are more adults in a way.(▰˘◡˘▰)   1 reply

Being a kid, I was actually against lgbt stuff. It's not like that anymore(￣∇￣") I'm very ashamed of my past self. I was kinda raised to be like that, my mum kept saying it was wrong and I believed her. Some of my classmates also mentioned that if their family were homophobes so should they. yehh...peer pressure much... I didn't read a yaoi ......   3 reply
