i knew this when i was in 6th grade but i shrugged it off coz my parents reason was always 'i love u that's y we're doing this', i always believe that its normal, that they're doin' those for my sake lmao, now they don't physically discipline me coz i'm already 'grown up' but damn i wish they will coz verbally 'discipline' hurts more, shouting hurt......   reply

Yeah...i kinda relate since my dad used to hit me with a belt really hard but i always thought it was normal. Parents are just fucked up tbh, they take out their frustrations on their own kids.   reply

I'm not really sure how to answer your question. We all have different ways of how our parents discipline us. I, too, was spanked, slapped, shouted etc. as a form of discipline. But turns out, it actually helped me to be more mindful of my words and surroundings. Although the downside is I have low self-esteem due to this way of disciplining. Th......   1 reply

i didn't know either, i thought hitting a child is a way to let the kids "feel" the consequences of their actions if they don't listen to their parents multiple times, because that's what my parents used to tell me. the "i was hit as a kid but i turned out fine" shouldn't be an excuse to physically hurt a child, i hope this cycle of abuse stops soo......   reply

Its been years since my parents have last laid a hand on me but the effects still stand and one of the worst things a person can do to me now is raise their voice at me.
