How do people enjoy love triangles?

I hate love triangles in general.

The feeling of rooting for a character when it's clearly obvious that they are just going to be a plot point for the main characters makes me extremely depressed.

Even if I'm not rooting for the 2nd lead, it still makes me sad knowing that this character that I have read 50 chapters about has strong feelings for the mc and has this sad backstory and how the mc has changed him etc. will just be left alone in the end.

Love triangles make me depressed because I spend so much time on these 3 characters but I know that only 2 will get a happy ending.

exactly, and in some no one ends up together. I feel that ending may be a bit better, but it just leaves them all dissapointed. Harems are the same situation, but even more people end up hurt, or the MC is oblivious to all of their feelings. I get so upset when a good book/comic has a love triangle, it honesty ruins it for me. reply

I hate it too, mostly because the one that I root for is the one who doesn't end up with the other part...I guess this is a case of 2nd male lead syndrome And also...usually when the two guys start 'fighting' for the girl/being bros they develop more chemistry between then that with the fl, so I end up shipping them reply

i fucking hate love triangles unless they make the SECOND LEAD a dick (not first lead) cuz it is so wrong if they just but a second lead to make the mc look more desirable then they do them so fucking dirty when they are so sweet. this is why second lead syndrome exists. bc of fucked up authors :/ 2 reply

I detest the same ending syndrome. It's usually the nice one that just gets used for character developement. It's predictable, make something new already. Give them a love interest of their own, cause I'm a sucker for that. Ehe~ Forget love triangles, just make the ML misunderstand and have them be friends instead. No developing feelings. i FUCKING loathe love triangles. i do not care even if a certain novel is the best out there, if it revolves a love triangle I AM OUT. i just don't understand the purpose of putting this certain character to somehow "change" things or the plot when later on, we find out they are just there for character development. it's just so sad, and honestly, ...... reply

I don’t like it. Mostly because the actual morally good, not abusive or weirdly creepy and not a copy of every mc love interest ever one is never chosen and I’m stuck with second lead syndrome and get depressed. Even when the MC picks someone good, I feel extra bad for the other one. I just can’t reply
