Some observations..

I have been a long term reader of BL and yaoi. First traumatic experience of discovering it happened at age eight while on youtube; an erei video (yes ik) just automatically played after a pucca and garu compilation. It was jarring. Oh and now im an erwinxlevi kind of person. And now here I am, in this barren desert of a genre.

“Barren? How could that be so?” You ask. Well first, let me layout that this is an opinion, and while you can disagree, please do so in a conversational matter; with class and consideration. Even if you only think of this genre as two guys dickin it out. Moving on to the point: the recent BLs and Yaois (excluding a few gems) are not fun. I easily find myself consuming mass amounts of these new stories and forgetting about them days later. And this is pretty big to me because I genuinely enjoy the relationship building and plots of this genre. Seeing millions of manga update on my list and me not even being able to recall the premise of the story is kinda sad.

And this is even more noticeable with how I mentioned earlier I’ve been in this chaotic game for a while. And from my time being here have been some incredibly memorable titles; BJ Alex, Sign, Love is an Illusion, Ameiro Paradox, etc. These stories are really one of its kind, unique, and were clearly crafted with some careful sense. This is not meant to discredit other creators of course, but you cannot tell me that the same storyboard effort in From Points of Three was made with another story that essentially displays a caregiver eventually having their care-needer fuck em senseless. Everyone had their own cup of tea, i suppose. It is just getting old.

Nothing really seems to catch my eye. And this could very well be because I have first experience bias with all my favorites, but that could also be why everything seems pretty redundant now. In other words, I feel like I’ve already discovered all the memorable ones, leaving me to crumbs. My own fault too, perhaps; for consuming content way too quickly and being too critical.
