While I do think that it is a little overused, personally I'm fine with both. Someone mentioned above and that calling the maternal donor mom is completely fine and I agree with that. we call the earth 'mother earth' and the two cells that result from mitosis 'daughter cells' despite them not having genders and there's nothing strange about that. o......
