I signed up for debate for my sophomore year in high school (I’m currently a freshman btw). If anyone as ever taken debate tell me how it is. Is it fun? Is it stressful? Is it boring? I’m not really interested in debate or anything like that. I actually want to be a doctor. I’m just doing it cause it looks good on college applications. Does anyone have any tips to get over stage fright and become better at public speaking? But anyways if you’ve been or are in debate let me know how it is. (〜 ̄△ ̄)〜
i've never had debate i am still a freshman too but i don't think they offer that at my school. I too want to take it tho
i personally am somewhat confident when speaking in front of people and a tip is when you are speaking in front of others and you see yourself start to like sway you walk in that direction. if that makes sense.

I’m probably the last person to ask advice for when public speaking but I usually like to write things down before hand and have notes or a script to look at if allowed cuz my brain goes blank once I’m infront of a crowd. Breathing helps too and although eye contact is preferred I try not to look at people’s eyes cuz it makes me more nervous ...... 1 reply

1) Debate is about convincing people that what your saying is right. So twist facts and statistics to emphasise you're point.
