i want to be successful in the future but... do i know what career i want in the future? no. do i know what to do? not in the slightest. I cant even imagine my lazy ass waking up early to go to work ugh
This is an issue that I’d say almost everyone struggles with. It’s hard to envision what you want to do everyday when you’re not actually sure what these jobs entail. As students we aren’t really prepared well for the day to day operations of working life. The first commenter gave very sound advice. I’d say once you can envision a few things for yourself, research people in those positions as well. And just remember that where you start isn’t your end all be all. It’s daunting to think of a career as life long. Trial and error is apart of finding yourself as a newly working adult. Fight on(๑•ㅂ•)و✧
wow. i can’t believe this was already years ago. i wrote this when i was struggling to choose my college course.
life update, i’m now an accountancy student and am one of the leaders in a nationwide accountancy institute for aspiring accountants.
i remember reading the other comment and feeling super relieved. it really helped me cope with my internal struggles during those times. and i regret not even replying a ‘thank you’.
then i read your comment now. i’ll make sure to carry your guys’ lessons with me all throughout my college and adult life. thank you, legends
Just came across this by accident. As an adult who is already working: don't choose a carreer based on what you are going to study, choose a carreer based on what you see yourself working as. I feel like there is a lot of pressure when it comes to work, it seems as if we have to find "our true calling" when the truth is, only a very lucky few experience that. Just choose something you think could make you happy, that you think you could be good at and that will allow you to support yourself financially. One last thing: we are all on the same boat, don't worry. The feeling of not really knowing what you are doing remains until you are like... thirty or something. Try to enjoy the process and know that sometimes, you just don't know. Best of luck. If you need to talk, let me know!
