Okay well, first off, the whole idea of BL is, in a way, meant to objectify and fetishise gay men. We may want to dispute that with 'plotlines' or 'characters', but the truth is that if you look at the history of BL in Japan in the 80's, it was written specifically to a straight female fanbase.
