People seem to be qualifying that they're okay with rape in manga, but I don't think it's okay. Manga that involves rape often romanticizes the situation, but that's not real. Rape is a traumatic experience, and the idea that it can be okay because rhe one being rape just doesn't know it yet is propogaged by its fetishization. Sex initiated by peer......

Exactly. I honestly hate that people take works of fiction so seriously.

That’s like comparing apples to oranges. In reality both things are awful. In fiction we can hold our disbelief. Everyone has things they like to read that may not necessarily reflect what they feel about reality. For example, I don’t really mind incest in yaoi, but in real life it squeaks me out. Same goes for rape and cheating. In yaoi/other genres, especially the romance genre, rape is a means to an end. It is hardly if ever portrayed as being overly traumatic. It’s not a justification, but it’s not really supposed to be taken seriously in these types of stories and I think we as readers should know that. As far as cheating, the reason why it seems to.be more reviled by readers is because it usually presented in a more traumatic way for the cheated on character. You actually see them suffer because of that and so as readers it’s hard to cheer or romantisize that.
In short, usually in romance fiction, cheating is worst than rape mainly because cheating is portrayed as making the character suffer, whereas rape is usually presented as pleasureable after the intitial resistance.
In real life, both acts are dispicable and bad in their own ways.
