First yaoi

I was 13yo and to distract myself from my parents' fights I dived into the world of anime and manga. Not too long after that I was starting to have fewer and fewer series to watch/read as I had worked myself into reading and watching everything, I was obviously addicted, so I went to a site where the releases for that semester had came out and as I was strolling down the list a really big pink banner caught my attention, it had a large teddy bear on it and there was a boy embracing it, I found it cute so I read the synopsis and, well, the fact that all the pronouns used were he/him/his set out all kinds of flags in my head, I'm from a very religious family and the idea of a homosexual relationship is a whole new level of no no for them, and you might think that growing up with people like that I would be more innocent, but seriously I'm no fool, I knew exactly what that meant, before entering the anime/manga world I had done plenty of research in the genres available, and was already familiar with the terms of yaoi and shounen ai. Knowing that, you would think that I would be grossed out and scrolled down to look for something else, but no, I had really liked the synopsis so I decided to take a look, after all it only had a boy embracing a teddy bear, nothing nsfw there, so it was probably a shounen ai right? Wrong, Oh so very wrong!! in the first 10 minutes of it I had watched the most explicit rape scene in my life (till that moment). I had the thought of closing the page and never ever watching something like that again, but the main character treated it like it was simply a really bad joke and made empty threats of killing the other guy, so I thought I could watch some more and see if it was really that bad, and all I can say is that through the episode my reactions went like this: ugh>lol>wait! is that?!!!>oh gosh>hmm>lmao walking towards the sun x'D>Oh noo>Awww they're kissing and hugging<3333. after that I went into a frenzy of watching and reading everything I could of that mangaka, and then everything yaoi and shounen-ai related. So now I'm a full on fujoshi 24/7 almost 8 years after that, all thanks to Junjou Romantica<3 still one of my fav~
