idk if this is an unpopular opinion abt shojos but here i go

I really dislike when authors go "I want this character to be relatable so this character won't have a personality", for example, one of my fav shojo manga is OHSHC, I really like this manga, but even though I didn't perceive it at first as I stopped o think I noticed how all the characters would be all eccentric and stuff and Haruhi would be always the one to be "normal", some might argue that it's to make people notice how eccentric the characters are, but I think that doesn't let Haruhi shine as an mc, add to it the fact that most of the reasons given to why the other characters fell in love with her are like "????", for an example the Hikaru starting to like her because she was the only person to ever find the difference between him and his brother, like?????? this seems like an "I'm not like other girls" trope, which is really misogynistic.
In my opinion, MCs are good characters when they really do seem like another person that could exist, and if readers relate to that, that's a bonus, because they don't have to be really similar to the readers because really trying to do so only ends in making them less likable.
Have in mind that I'm not directing hate towards the author, nor the work, and also not to the character, I'm just stating my honest opinion, as a fan of the manga.
