Did/Does anyone else’s parents make it seem like not being afraid of them was disrespectful?

or when they're yelling at me and I don't say anything, like if I don't say something it's disrespectful. If I do say something, it's backtalk. what do they want from me?   1 reply

If I breath while my mom talks I’m instantly the most disrespectful and ungrateful child in the world as if she didn’t say that to me multiple times already. Anyways sometimes things are chill she doesn’t guilt trip me or hit me but I still can’t approach her or talk to her properly bc of trauma   2 reply

yea, my dad would quote the bible at me and said that to respect god is to fear god and then said that we had to fear and respect him in the same way. Now that I think about it, he probably has a god complex cause he would compare himself to god and jesus a lot.   reply
