Finding a job
So like, I'm having a lot of fights with my family right now because I (graduated in December 2020) don't have a job yet (January 2021). I'm sure a lot of people on this site don't have a job/are wayyyyy too young to be thinking about this so just humor me.
I want a job in PR/Marketing. Especially one where I get to use statistics of demographics to tailor messages to people. I worked as a social media manager over last summer (2020) and really enjoyed it. So I've been looking for that kind of job, right?
Mkay so. As I stated I've recently graduated and don't have a job yet. I am back home till I find one, and good lord have I been looking. To complicate things, I want a job near my long term SO so I've been trying to stay within 3 hours of them. I don't want to play the "I can't see you for 8 months bc travel too expensive" game.
My family has lost their ever loving minds over a few things 1) my job type isn't specific enough 2) my job type doesn't pay enough in their opinions 3) my job type is too specific (yes, I know this contradicts point #1, they don't seem to get that) 4) the places where I'm applying to are limiting (location not company) 5) why did I start applying to places much farther away from my SO (10 hr drive) after being screamed at about point #4 6) I should have sent them, my family, my resume when they never asked before or mentioned they wanted it 7) I'll never get anywhere without connections despite me sending my resume to people in the field I want to work in who I am friends with 8) Why don't I have a job yet 9) why have I gotten so few interviews and my favorite 10) why is finding a job near the love of my life important and what will I do if we break up.
#10= okay we broke up? I'll just broaden my search and probably move on with my life after crying a ton and possibly suffering severe mental anguish.
But yeah, how's everyone else's job searches going? What's got your family going at you?
