does anyone actually NOT like omega verses?
I just read Love Is An Illusion and don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing really bad about it and for what it is, it’s pretty good (it could be way worse from what I’ve read). I tried reading it cause I wanted to give the a/b/o verse another chance, but alas... it still leaves me uneasy. like, I wish when the omegas were in heat they would be conscious of their decisions instead of a zombie that’s sole goal is to have sex/get pregnant. like, why can the alphas be conscious but not the omegas? and technically he couldn’t even consent.
another thing about the verse is that sometimes it doesn’t even seem like the couple is in love, it’s just because of their alpha and omega biology and that’s the only reason they’re even together. literally most verses go like this: the omega goes into heat > coincidentally the alpha who will be his love interest is nearby > the alpha gets attracted to his heat > they have sex > omega thinks he loves the alpha and vice versa. it seems kinda lazy to me, like a cheap and quick way to say “they fell in love!” and not have to explain why. isn’t there a story there the omegas aren’t sex crazed and actually are like “hey I’m in heat but I don’t want to have sex with you so fuck off”? or even better, a story about an alpha and a beta who go against social norms? that would be so interesting! am I the only one who thinks this way? cause it sure feels like it.
(ps, if you enjoy the verse, I’m not bashing you personally. you can like whatever you want, so there’s no hate directed towards you.)
I can't stand Omegaverse either. It makes me feel uncomfortable/uneasy like you mentioned. Also the whole concept seems ludicrous. I've only read Kashikomarimashita, Destiny because a friend recommended it. And it was pretty good. My first and my last. I'm not sure I'll read more. x
