the reason fujoshis can be hurtful
aight this person just-- read this. they summed it up perfectly:

i used to be obsessive during my small fujoshi phase, and i realised, its quite uncomfortable for gay men. i even started hating myself for being a girl, but thats besides the point.
don't project ur understanding of gay relationships from yaois in real life. dont ask them weird questions about their bedroom life. don't ship people irl, even if they are idols. respect their feelings and sexual/romantic orientation.
if u don't do any of those things then ur chile :)
its okay to read yaoi, but you see, gay men do not want to know that.
also, the tropes and stereotypical situations in most yaois can be upsetting because its not actually like that in real life. of course people know its just fiction, its still a huge let down for gay men. all they want is proper representation, normalisation and respect.
lets redeem fujoshis and change the interpretation of fujoshi from "rotten girl" to "respectful BL fan" (๑•ㅂ•)و✧
It’s not only the fujoshi fandom's fault. The works that they madly love are problematic and that's where their problematic views come from. The authors want to make quick money so they make bl with their heteronormative ideas (might I add the normalization and romanticization of rape,
sexual assault, manipulation, toxicity etc.) that gets ......

That "unpopular opinion" post about rape from the other day was literally posted by someone in their 20s. It's not just children, it's adults al......

Well, in my opinion, you shouldn't be giving yaoi fans a name in the first place. It just sets gay relationships apart from straight ones, and we need to normalise them, not put them out in the spotlight for the wrong reasons. In my opinion, it's okay to read BL, but I had no idea these people were going around telling gay men they read it...

To me what matters is to differentiate reality from fiction, which means that leave out every living real person from your own mind. I mean, if you read BL but it stays in your mind, it's cool, if you read it and then you go around asking private questions to gays that's weird
