EXTREME late bloomer here. I just turned 48 but I started reading about 5, 6 years ago. I always read manga and watched Japanese anime since I was little (spent my very early years in Japan, my mom is Japanese). We are the same! I'm female too & 29yo and just found yaoi about a year ago (๑•̀ㅂ•́)و✧ First i avoid it so much, but think it's not a big problem since i'm an adult. I read Shounen-Ai first, and made my way into yaoi mangas. I'm not fujoshi & i enjoyed yaoi so much now ლ(´ڡ`ლ)   1 reply

Another late bloomer here. I'm 27 female. I recently started reading Yaoi too. I can't get enough of it. I got into it by watching Sekaiichi Hatsukoi. I really liked it and wanted to see if there was a manga that added more to the story. At first I was really surprised at how much more graphic it was than the anime version. Another late boomer here. I didn't start reading yaoi manga until this year 2016 after turning 32! I'd been watching anime for just over two years and really loved the shounen ai animes I watched. I was about 24-25 when I started and truthfully, I didn't really like yaoi in the beginning. I read it to get exposed to lgbt issues. Not the most realistic or reliable source but when u come from a strongly anti- lgbt family you need to start slow.   1 reply
