Personally I like both an equal amount. Bara is a bit more comparable to my real life sex experiences, since it's actually written by gay men unlike yaoi. Yaoi has more story, but is often very much a straight woman's ideal vision of what gay sex is, and is often unrealistic.
Also, just like what you like, there's no right or wrong way to be a BL ......
