I've started to study Japanese online on Rosetta Stone w/ my sister, and so far I only know some of the basics: hello-konnichiwa boy-otokonoko girl-onnanoko man-otokonohito woman-onnanohito dog-inu cat-neko apple-ringo(?) bread-pan water-mizu(?) green-midori run-hashite(?) goodbye-sayonara I know how to pronounce some other ones, but i'm not sure h......   reply

I am also learning Japanese through self study. I recommend the Human Japanese app for Android and Windows. It offers a voice recognition tool so that you can practice pronunciation, a thorough curriculum in reading, writing and speaking as well as sections dedicated to culture, customs and etiquette. I'm a total beginner and I still need to be more loyal to my schedule. I really like to use tips on the internet but what really works for me it's translating stuff. Like music, animes and stuff. You go searching how to translate something and I think it helps to get the things inside your head.   reply

I'm currently learning how to read, write, and speak Japanese with a curriculum called Genki. It's the best program I've found to learn Japanese, for me at least, mainly because it actually teaches the sentence structure and how to speak properly, rather than just saying, "mizu means water, sakana means fish, okaasan means mother, etc." It also exp......   1 reply

Hi I've been studying Japanese for about four years and though i forget a lot of things I have a pretty solid control of speaking and writing japanese (in hiragana).
